Job Summary

Due to continued expansion BMC Manufacturing are recruiting an EHS Advisor, this role is vital to ensuring a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manufacturing operation while supporting the health and well-being of the workforce. This is an opportunity for someone with experience in a manufacturing or industrial EHS role.

The Environmental Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with manufacturing health and safety standards, fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, and promoting workforce well-being across all four manufacturing sites. This role involves designing and implementing health, safety, and environmental processes, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure adherence to the companys Safety Statement and Safety Policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and industry best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and SOPs across all manufacturing sites.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement necessary controls.
  • Oversee incident investigations, analyse root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide EHS training and awareness programs to employees and management to ensure compliance with policies and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Monitor and report on EHS performance, trends, and compliance metrics to senior management.
  • Support the development and execution of emergency response plans and drills.
  • Ensure adherence to the companys Safety Statement and Safety Policy across all sites.
  • Collaborate with production managers and supervisors to ensure safety practices are embedded in daily operations.
  • Stay updated on changes in EHS regulations and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures.
  • Lead environmental sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors during inspections and audits.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial EHS role.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Experience in developing and implementing EHS policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular travel between the four manufacturing sites totalling 250,000 square feet with 400 plus employees.
  • Working in both office and factory environments, with required use of PPE when necessary.
  • Occasional out-of-hours work for incident investigations or urgent compliance matters.

This role is vital to ensuring a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manufacturing operation while supporting the health and well-being of the workforce.

A financial package commensurate with experience and ability will be available to the selected person.
