Clinical Specialty Leads have been appointed with a common structure and data-driven approach to specialty and directorate operations meetings. The division of internal medicine at St Jamess Hospital is primarily focused on the care of acute emergency medical admissions. We are aligned with the objectives of the acute medicine programme and as well as having a busy clinical service we have a vibrant research function and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education Service overview The division of internal medicine at St Jamess Hospital is primarily focused on the care of acute emergency medical admissions. We are aligned with the objectives of the acute medicine programme and as well as having a busy clinical service we have a vibrant research function and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education Principal duties and responsibilities The Registrar post contributes to the acute medical admissions in St Jamess Hospital and they will rotate internally with Speciality Consultants. Learning opportunities are based around situational teaching, daily Consultant-led patient handover and ward rounds, weekly formal registrar teaching, regular inter-specialty seminars and a clinical audit programme. Research in General Medicine is actively supported within the department. Successful candidates are expected to: Be responsible for the safe and efficient assessment of patients Work under consultant supervision to lead the resuscitation of all critically ill and injured patients Liaise effectively with other specialty teams in relation to patient referrals Supervise handover at the end of each shift. Balance service demands with their personal educational needs and those of the doctors and medical students they supervise Be supportive of junior staff, ANPs, nurses and other team members Participate in clinical risk management, audit and research activities Comply with departmental clinical guidelines Support by the Consultants and their Registrar colleagues.
