Community Support Worker

We are seeking a full-time permanent Support Worker to join a residential care service for young people seeking international protection in Kilkenny.

The role involves a combination of shifts, which may include day shifts, 24-hour shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.

This is a fulfilling opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in a young person’s life through trauma-informed care and community support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day support in a residential care setting
• Assist with personal care, meals, transport, and activities
• Support young people in educational and recreational routines
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young residents
• Ensure a safe and nurturing environment at all times
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver person-centred care

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 + years experience working within a residential or similar care setting
• Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable groups
• Excellent communication and team-working abilities
• A full clean manual driving license
• Flexible to work shifts, including evenings and weekends

Desirable:

• Relevant QQI Level 5 qualification in social care, childcare, or healthcare
• Experience in residential or youth settings
• Understanding of trauma-informed care or cultural sensitivity
