Join HubSpot as a Technical Lead, Backend on the Growth Acquisition team

In this role, you will lead efforts to design and implement scalable backend services that drive user acquisition and support HubSpots ambitious growth goals. You will collaborate closely with a dynamic team of engineers, marketers, and product specialists to innovate and optimize the systems that power our acquisition strategies.As a Technical Lead, you will provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and play a crucial role in the strategic decision-making process, ensuring our backend technologies meet the demands of a rapidly changing market.If you have a strategic mindset, a passion for backend technologies, and a keen interest in driving user growth, we would love to have you on our team to contribute to HubSpots growth journey.

Key Expectations for Technical Lead:

  • A Tech Lead is a player-coach responsible for leading a small team.
  • They are recognized as high-performing engineers.
  • They collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and other Tech Leads in their family to define and share relevant, compelling, and challenging goals for their team.
  • They work across teams with other TLs to resolve cross-team issues.
  • They proactively take ownership of their teams on-call health and product reliability and quality.
  • They have an interest and opinion in the direction of the product. They do not defer this over to the PM or PD or others. Instead, they are an active member of the teams leadership triad, co-setting the direction for the team.
  • They proactively look to grow the members of their team to enable them to take on harder and harder tasks.
  • They are creating and fostering diverse teams and an inclusive culture.

Were looking for:

  • A strong senior engineer with experience leading small teams using Java
  • Open to experimentation and new ways of doing things. Values a working solution much more highly than the optimal solution.
  • A customer-centric attitude and someone who can develop opinions about the HubSpot product
  • An understanding of building reliable systems in a complex architectural space
