Junior H&S Officer/Adviser

Dídean specialises in providing emergency accommodation services for individuals seeking international protection. Dídean provides a community based, social care alternative for persons who require housing support.

We are recruiting for a Junior H&S Officer/Adviser to join the business. Reporting to the H&S Manager.

The role will be full Time, based in Carlow, with travel among Midlands - Laois, Offaly, Carlow, Westmeath and ad-hoc locations.

Responsibilities & Key Duties:

• Assist in the Development, implementation and maintenance of a Health and Safety system - Update and develop risk assessments, guidelines and SOPs.
• Monitor and review houses/hubs performance through inspections and audits.
• Conduct regular safety walks and safety talks with each hub/house.
• Assist and participate in the promotion of health-related risks and training on our sites.
• Assist in the implementation of the Companys Accident Reporting Procedure and ensure the necessary corrective and preventative measure(s) are implemented.
• Actively explore continuous improvements of the companys processes and procedures in order to increase efficiencies of resources, reduce wastage and maximize customer service and satisfaction.
• Ensure the implications of changes in legislation and safety management techniques are communicated and implemented throughout the Company.
• Liaise with enforcement authorities if they attend a site on routine visits or to investigate following an incident.
• Build and maintain effective key relationships with other departments and 3rd parties.
• Support the social care team in all matters relating to Health and Safety.
• Ensure compliance with the Dídeans Digital and Media Policy and social media Policy.
• Assist in the administration of compliance certifications and related documentation.
• Ad-hoc duties.

Qualifications and/or experience required:

• Relevant Health and Safety qualification - minimum Diploma (level 6)
• The successful Health and Safety Officer will have 1+ years experience.
• Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of working in a social care setting a distinct advantage.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: €40,000.00-€45,000.00 per year
